This is mind-boggling.

I so dearly hope I live to see the day when the USA stops glorifying the 15th and 16th century colonizers (especially Cristoforo Columbo).

"Colonization of the Americas at the end of the 15th century killed so many [indigenous] people, it disturbed Earth’s climate, according to a new study by University College London."

‘Little Ice Age’ caused by death of 55-million Indigenous people after colonization: study

Colonization of the Americas at the end of the 15th century killed so many people, it disturbed Earth's climate, according to a new study.

Global News

@courtcan 55 millions caused by colonization/evangelization is a little bit of a stretch compared to the industrial mass killing made by Nazis against Jews.

Crazy thing is in every country in this continent, except for 🇺🇸, Aboriginal ethnicity is praised. Canada most recently, at least they're asking for forgiveness and trying to build a path of reconciliation. Instead, 🇺🇸 wants to surpass Hitler

@epistomai @courtcan

You're dismissing "mass deaths of the indigenous peoples from diseases newly introduced from Europe"?

@skua @courtcan no, I'm not. Those diseases were introduced to weaken the indigenous population

@courtcan

I'd thought that it was only with the Industrial Revolution that humans could effect the global climate.

Now seeing that there might of been enough humans with sufficient technology to have impacts earlier.
