I'm also testing out a new low-maintenance approach to keep squirrels away from my tomatoes. I'll grow sungold tomatoes (small, yellow) between hot pepper plants with similar color and size fruit. The small tomatoes are good for squirrel country just because they have more fruit, and each squirrel raid does less damage. I'll see if the peppers deters the squirrels. I've previously put cages around my tomato plants, but that's too much work for the yield.
