Tyrone Slothrop@PhoenixSerenity IIRC in South Korea there’s a program where older farmers host young people who want to move out of the city for a few months, so they can try out if the farming life is for them.
Maybe useful as a source of ideas?
@slothrop We have a Young Agarians society that does similar but most of their events/match ups are on the mainland. I'll be meeting with a few small farmers to get their input over next 2-3 months. Seeking to do more localized small farmers generational bridging work 👩🌾👨🌾
pinhman@PhoenixSerenity Farming? It’s a “hard sell” even farmland has become financialized. If one doesn’t inherit a family’s accumulated land ownership it’s almost impossible. And the inherited ownership distorts rural politics

@pinhman I do work with several anarchist small farmers & there's a few grassroots co-ops who share lands to farm on. I also work with a few different nonprofits to acquire public land transfers for food security/community gardens/orchard stewardship, under covenants. We also network with farmers with larger acreages, who want to donate some of their land for local food security purposes.
@pinhman Most of us know the current capitalist fueled government has repeatedly failed farmers. I don't depend on them to fix what they broke. While we keep fighting for better farming/food security public policies - there's ample offline opportunities to do grassroots work. We can choose to start building alternative decolonized food security systems, working around bureaucratic issues/red tape. We can seek out local connections who are interested in working towards the same goals & increase community collective power for more sustainable, localized, food systems & food security.
