Migrated 26 Zigbee and 11 Matter devices to my new #homeassistant .

@ropatrick I did. I had them all paired with an old Zigbee2MQTT installation and old home assistant.

I don’t know all the config files, so I did it manually. It’s all set and done now 😬

@dalcacer OK. Did you consider the backup/restore option or was that not suitable?

@ropatrick I didn’t, as I wanted to start over fresh.

The old installation was split in serveral cintainers. HA, Zigbee2MQTT, mosquitto. I’ve migrated everything to one VM on new hardware. Tightly coupled.

@dalcacer nice. Theres something satisfying about building something from scratch when its already built somewhere else. You can take your time over it and be meticulous! Nice work!

@ropatrick Actually the old setup was working stable, but I didn’t like the many moving parts.

I had a Zigbee2MQTT stand alone adapter, and all the aforementioned containers on my NAS. Just so many points that could fail.

Finally I bought a used Lenovo notebook as homelab. Using proxmox, a VM and USB pass through for a Zigbee-adapter.

Hope that setup is more robust.
