Transfer Point is now available! It’s a point-and-click adventure game about regret, forgiveness, and email. It was made in World Builder, a Mac app from 1986. You can play it free in your web browser. InvisiClues are also available here if you need a hint! https://robotspacer.software/transfer-point.html #MARCHintosh
Transfer Point for Macintosh

An adventure game about regret, forgiveness, and email, created in World Builder. Made almost entirely live on twitch.tv/robotspacer, from March 2023 through June 2024, with the help of many wonderful people.

Transfer Point is also available for download on Itch. There are two versions of the game, which should run on most classic Macs including the original 128K Mac. You’ll also get a copy of the box art and the illustrated manual, which are both very cute and fun imo https://robotspacer.itch.io/transfer-point #MARCHintosh

The source code for the game is also available. Really the game itself is the source code—you can take your Itch download and open it in World Builder. But I wanted to make it easy to look at the code on a modern computer, for anyone curious but not fully committed to making games on an old Mac. https://github.com/robotspacer/transfer-point/ #MARCHintosh
A bunch of people contributed to this game in various ways while I made it on stream in 2023–2024. If that includes you, or you just stopped by and said hi, or liked one of my posts about it: I appreciate you a lot 💖
@robotspacer congrats on finally getting it finished up!
@robotspacer Amazing! Well done, this looks so neat!

@robotspacer Well, I've had a couple deaths (egret, shadow) and I'm now stuck, and/or waiting for a potato to grow.

- "put book in drop" should do something!
- No sounds, is that normal?
- there's no "back" button in signs & such. "leave" works but nothing tells me it should.
- YOU CAN PET THE DOG!
- "i" for inventory would be nice.
- Nice book titles!

@mdhughes
- You're right! Noted.
- Should have sound (including right after "click to start”). If I recall correctly World Builder sounds don't work on 32-bit Macs? If you're running it on real hardware or a later emulator that might be it. I should add a note about this.
- There should be Back/Close in the Commands menu in close-ups?
- 🎉
- I agree but that's a built-in command so there's no way to do it. Command-I works.
- Thanks, lots of community suggestions in there!
@mdhughes Oh btw, exiting close-ups is mentioned in the help (second screen). That's worth a quick look if you get stuck on anything else.
@robotspacer Yeah, I looked at the help after a bit. Still would be nice to have a back button, but it may be tough in their engine.

@robotspacer OK, nice game!!!

(yes, I know I'm a monster.)

But 2 more points‽

Anyway, first run I guessed in the cat conversation, based on the books outside, and only later got the PDA which explained it. MAYBE don't let the bookcase move until you use the PDA? Or require HER name?

I keep forgetting to search rooms.

I don't understand the shadow or gone room? I'll have some more investigation on that. I have to set up my emulator to have useful saves.

@mdhughes Thank you! Yeah, I think it’s not super hard to guess the cat conversation, but that seems OK. And yes the search mechanics are little odd but I decided to accept some things as being standard for World Builder. I’ll probably improve on those things for the Playdate version. I’m confused what you mean by “the shadow or gone room”?

@robotspacer The shadow is the figure in the doorway. I don't know how to reliably trigger it, I avoid it by just walking away but maybe there's a solution. Why isn't it inside the house?

The gone room: The place past the foyer.

@mdhughes Ah, got it. Let me know if you want answers to either of those.
@robotspacer Oh, and sound, figured it out: Safari auto-bans sound (if you've done that) unless you go in and turn it on in Websites.
@robotspacer Congrats on the release! I'm very excited to try it out.
@robotspacer @misty 1. this looks great 2. Is this a coincidence https://merveilles.town/@cancel/108755977900554988

@cancel @misty Definitely a coincidence, I love the look of that though, great animation! I assume Dome is the Hyperjam entry you made this for? I keep meaning to check out more of those.
@robotspacer @misty nah I just made it for fun
@robotspacer Your game looks so great. Congrats on the release. I had to buy it to support you. I'll try to play it on my old PowerBook G3 "Pismo” or in emulation.
@robotspacer ok, that G3 is way too modern. I just realized I need to travel further back in time :)
