The top tiers of #football in the #UK have the weekend off as #British teams are playing in #WorldCup qualifying games. That's good in my book as teams don't have to cope with key players being unavailable. It keeps things on a more or less level playing field.
Even better there are English Premiership #rugby games being played in English Premiership football stadiums such as #AstonVilla stadium in #Birmingham. There is no Premiership rugby team in Birmingham so its a good way to bring rugby to a new area. The Villa fans can still go to watch a big game today, its just a different sport for the #Brummies. I hope they enjoy the game if they go to watch.
I know its all about building brands and opening up new markets and before you know it there will be franchise teams in football and rugby like all elite level sports in North America and #t20 #cricket around the world. I think that just for once sports executives here in the UK are doing the right thing, even if its for the wrong reasons ultimately.
