@cstross @glynmoody for many weeks local groups across mainland UK have organised their own coaches for folk to join and get to London.
I guess as always my hope is folk see a post and go seek info for themselves if their interest is piqued enough. You made a valid observation so I added a link. 🙌👊👍

@Silversnapples @glynmoody Depends which media you follow! I don't watch TV and avoid right wing newspapers (including The Guardian, because: violent transphobia and enough xenophobia they'd have been on the far right in the 1980s).

@Silversnapples @glynmoody As I said: NOWHERE on that poster does it explain what hte cause is. Not a paragraph, not a sentence, not even a phrase. It presupposes knowledge which is very unevenly distributed these days.

So many national and international activist groups have been harping on about this event for quite some time. Posting about it. I guess you dont receive uodates or follow any of them. Sods law this was the one share that made you look though! 😉

This sprung into existence as a concept following the Tommy Robinson aka Yaxley-Lennon, Musk financed far right rally and riots that took over london with 100k racist nationalists last year.

Anyway its done and it was a massive success. My only regret is that I wasn't there and clearly provided just enough confusion for one toot to cause this random deconstruction. 😂

@Silversnapples @cstross @glynmoody I knew about this since last year! In the last few weeks I've had postcards thru my door, put a poster up in my window, there's flyers up in shop windows all over my part of London – my mum, dad, brother and uncle were there today (in different groups), and I was sad I couldn't be.

Tho I didn't know until today it coincided with anti-fascist marches in Rome and Munich and maybe elsewhere today, ntm No Kings.

I guess it really emphasises how separate some of the Scottish and English political movements have become that Charlie's first thought on seeing this today was 'Orange-order adjacent'.

@nicol @cstross @glynmoody ✌️ pretty sure I saw together alliance groups organising for tranpsort north of the border. All things said and done, hooray. It was a huge win, even if mainstream TV news chose to be dickish and ignore it, even for a fluff segment on Samba the missing Capybara whose likely snoozing in some warm tall grass not far from where I live tonight.

@cstross @Silversnapples @glynmoody exactly - I just checked, and unlike the Stop the War marches it seems this was London only, but confusingly(/happily) on the same day as a bunch of other anti-fascist marches around the world. I also heard very little about it on the Fediverse, it took me a while to even find the hashtag… if just one of the groups who was putting notes thru doors had opened a 'Together Alliance' account here and talked about I think many would have shared and many many more would know about it… (realise now I'm armchair pointing at volunteer efforts demanding they do something I could do but didn't)

@nicol @cstross @Silversnapples @glynmoody I shared it (well details of the coaches from Exeter) but with the hashtag of the local group organising it rather than Together Alliance which only really seems to have taken off as a hashtag in the past few days, it was all under StandUpToRacism or UniteAgainstTheFarRight

@afewbugs @cstross @Silversnapples @glynmoody Sounds better - ntm (kinda unrelated) but I just noticed that every single person visiting that TogetherAlliance website is invited to hand over their details to an American AI CRM company, outside of the protections of GDPR…

First Corbyn/Sultana's party did something similar with their signup, now this… how are activist groups still so naïve about creating massive datasets of political positions in countries where protections against selling and exploiting those datasets are so lacking? (Another reason someone from the org would benefit from being immersed in fediland for a while!)

@cstross @nicol @glynmoody the groups independl of each other are active all year round and have their own local demonstrations and watch for far-right rallies to counter -protest.
This particular day was a solidarity action and a cementing of activist communities for a common aim. I still regret not being there. But spending a day talking about it is a pretty good win even if it's to deconstruct how and what it is, so in opposition to my mild frustration, thank you to you both for engaging and being interested enough to ask questions while mainstream TV journalism absolutely refused to feature it even from their own back yard. 🙌❤️
