"A chatbot did not kill those children. People failed to update a database, and other people built a system fast enough to make that failure lethal. By the start of the Iran war, Maven โ€“ the system that had enabled that speed โ€“ had sunk into the plumbing, it had become part of the militaryโ€™s infrastructure, and the argument was all about Claude. This obsession with Claude is a kind of AI psychosis, though not of the kind we normally talk about," #ai

AI got the blame for the Iran school bombing. The truth is far more worrying

LLMs-gone-rogue dominated coverage, but had nothing to do with the targeting. Instead, it was choices made by human beings, over many years, that gave us this atrocity

@mfeilner trash in, trash out!
First lesson in a AI (LLM) I followed: data gathering and cleansing. 90% of the work to built usable trustworthy AI component.

And as a former archivist/information manager I know how much R.O.T. data there is floating around ๐Ÿ˜ฌ That should be a worry in the boardrooms, but c-level is never interested in solid archival/data-management ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

@Frieke72 I used to say #GIGO or better:

#SISO. Shit In, Shit out.

"But between SI and SO there's the #AI #enshitification engine." #feilnerisms

@Frieke72
"c-level is never interested in solid archival/data-management"

Yes, that's so to the point that it made my day.

@Frieke72 Thanks again for the inspiration, I made it one of my #feilnerisms

"OSI Layer 11 is where C-Level Management does not care about understanding anything of the Layers below. See #AI, #Opensource, #dataprotection #datamanagement #Long_Term_Archiving and more."

@mfeilner years and years of experience trying to reach them ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
