I'm going to block everyone repeating the climate denialist mantra "we can't abandon fossil fuels and switch to renewables overnight."
The transition to renewables was supposed to begin in the early 1970s when climate change was acknowledged as scientific consensus.
It's been about 20000 overnights since then. How many more overnights do you need? I expect the exact number in the answer, otherwise you're just a climate denial bot to me.
I realize that massive global scale transition projects take time. However, when we hear exactly the same excuse we heard 50 years ago, it can no longer be considered genuine.
50 years is more than enough for any kind of energy transition. We need to set the final deadline after which using fossil fuels will be punishable by sanctions at the very least.
Without a deadline, it'll never end. Fast forward 100 years in the future, and it's the same broken record about "overnight." Because why not?
