I'm going to whack everything to see which is the newest gcc version I can use with glibc 2.19 because I can't fucking believe there's no compatibility matrix between versions of glibc and gcc.

Hoping it isn't the same kind of deal with binutils.

Dropped the gcc version down to 9.5 and it seems to be advancing further. If everything goes alright, I will try with somewhat higher gcc versions until I find the line for glibc 2.19

The Hello World example program works on my Kindle.

Reminder for myself: gcc 9.5.0 compiles glibc 2.19 with binutils 2.45 in crosstools-ng 1.28.0
