Went to pick up our new backstay yesterday. Now the cable is swaged on both ends.

New standing rigging is... not cheap. The price tag was a bit high, but after doing some calculations it seemed like it wouldn't have been that much cheaper with mechanical swages, either...
Dev & I took the bus back from the shop with the new(and old) cable. Got a lot of funny looks and questions from other riders, "What is *that* for?"
@rek Support for really big tomato plants.
@yngmar Someone asked if it was for a bike, I'm not sure what he was picturing ^^;
The backstay is back on!
@rek Hey congrats!
@tty Thx! Job's not done tho, we now need to replace the headstay ^^;...
@rek Was there a failure, or is this maintenance?
@tty The backstay replacement was due to a big cut we found in one of the strands, it was compromised.
For the headstay, its very old, never been replaced, and the stay is hidden under a roller furler sleeve so we never get to see it(removing the sleeve is a bit involved). Given how much we've sailed that boat and that we dont know the true age of that stay, it's just safer to replace it.
@rek Nice! Are your stays made of that metal cord material?
@tty Yea they're made from stainless steel wiring.
@rek damn I wanna also be on a Pino like boat someday for a loooong long time >.<
@tyalie Hope you get to :>
