Wife out of the blue asked: "What day is Easter?"
Me: "Huh? It keeps moving around as it's tied to the new moon, or something..."

Vaguely remembered there was a formula to calculate the date, but was puzzled by wife's interest as Easter Bunny and eggs AFAIK haven't really taken off yet in Japan. Insidious effects of Tokyo Disneyland propaganda?🤔
Found the date (5 April 2026) and the Butcher-Meeus algorithm. [1,2]

"The dates of the full Moon and the March equinox that are used to calculate Easter are not the astronomical dates of these events, but rather the ecclesiastical dates."

🔸Reading this reminded me of the complexities of the Ptolemaic cosmology, but then calculations of the date of Easter began when geocentrism held sway, so similar mindsets?🤔
