Quick question for Commander players: when you're building a new deck, do you start with the commander and build around it, or do you start with a theme/strategy and find the commander later?

@GrimDeck both.
@andthegeekshall Fair. Sometimes you see a commander and have to build it, other times you have a pile of cards looking for a home.
@GrimDeck inspiration strikes when it will, not when you want it.

@GrimDeck

I start with a theme or strategy and look for commanders that work for it. 100%

@sapphire Makes sense. Way easier to stay focused when you know what you want to do before worrying about who's in the command zone.
@GrimDeck I usually pick them based on the vibe of the commander, unless it’s a kindred deck.
@IcatianJ Totally fair. The commander's vibe matters more than people think.
@IcatianJ That makes sense. The commander sets the vibe and you build the gameplay around it. I do that too, especially with tribal decks where the aesthetic matters as much as the strategy.
