I should expatiate that this isn't some kind of hipster / lifestyle / Instagram-esque virtue signalling like I want to flex how I'm really into mindfulness and anti-consumerism; I spent _five hours_ writing on this thing today, it is literally the best tool for the job given my specific set of constraints and nothing modern has been invented that can best it, so this is what I use. Likewise, I have been using an iPod since 2003. Nobody has engineered a better one worth a damn.
I do not think of myself as a writer, I think of myself as someone who wants to write.
I carry a laptop most of the time, a Lenovo T14s which annoys me every time I use it that I didn't get a 13" one -- they shouldn't even make laptops bigger than that. But it's an infinite distraction machine, a myriad of little demands that all add up. I get that some people have their ultra riced setup with a tiling window manager you've never heard of and even their web-browser is in a terminal. I am not one of those people, I am a sloth with an Energizer rabbit for a brain. If I want to be free of distraction, I have to _physically_ remove myself from it. But it also means that even though I don't want hassle, I am also extremely adept at using my tools. I don't want "smart" tools that limit me or tell me how I should be working. I need a keyboard, a screen and same RAM to put text in to. I need the flexibility of general purpose, "dumb" computing, I do not need a writing _expérience_.
