I'm rereading The Blue Lenses so I can write a blog post about it.

And that's the thing about #DaphneDuMaurier's work; you kind of have to read them a couple of times because they're so intriguing.

At least, I have to ...

@lydiaconwell I think The Blue Lenses is one my favourite short stories by Daphne Du Maurier, the final twist is so... I don't know clever and unexpected and her writing was so good

@sans_serif_girl Yes, when I got to the last pages, I was like: OK there's only a few paragraphs to go, how's this going to end?

Then I guessed what would happen, but it only made me more intrigued by what she saw.

Her writing is clever and sometimes subtle and it just stays with you.

@lydiaconwell that’s exactly it! I always say the same thing: her writing really stays with you! years on, I still think about The house on the strand or The Scapegoat (or actually pretty much everything – she’s my favourite author, and I’ve read almost everything she’s written).
@sans_serif_girl After Rebecca, I was like: She's my favourite author!
@lydiaconwell ahahahah me too! I read Rebecca when I was 20, now I'm 40 and she's still my favourite!
