@ivory seems Ivory does not work well with #snac2
At least not when I used #snac2

@fd0 How long ago was this? No idea if it's any better, but it does work well with most ActivityPub services that align well with Mastodon. We've heard it works pretty well with GotoSocial, Misskey, and Pleroma. Officially, we only support Mastodon. It would be a daunting task to support others too.

@ivory That was until say 2 months ago. I moved to a Mastodon instance. Will try later again on my own #snac2 instance, which is still there

@fd0 Ah ok. well it wouldn't have improved in the past 2 months. We made big changes a year or 2 ago that greatly improved support for a lot of ActivityPub services that worked very similarly to Mastodon.

It completely locks up my app when I click it!

I had no choice but to do that like five times because the app kept freezing. I’m lucky it even let me click on the comment icon. Even swiping to open the post froze it up.

@lunchb0x_b Can you try restarting your device? You are the first to report this issue and it sounds very weird. Is it only happening with that audio post?

Yeah, that’s all I’ve noticed so far. I’ll restart my phone and report back.

@lunchb0x_b So weird! But glad it was resolved. Must have been some system audio issue going on.

I’m still having issues with pics and videos not always loading though. Even my own do it, so it’s not a server issue.

@lunchb0x_b When you noticed that happening, we recommend checking your instance website at that time to see if the experience is similar. Next step would be to try the official Mastodon app or IceCubes to see if it's happening there. There's really no issues with loading media in Ivory (at least not at this time). If it was an issue in the code, we'd get many reports about it. It's usually something else going on. But we are always happy to try and help troubleshoot the issue as best as we can.

@ivory @lunchb0x_b I had some freezing after upgrading before trying audio, only trying disabling swipe gestures. Did a hard restart of the app and so far so good. Will report if not.

@clonezone That's something we will have to deal with later. It's a lot more work to get a player working that is persistent everywhere and this is such a niche feature in general (at least for most users). We just wanted to get basic playback working for now.

@danedeasy the fediverse can be weird. Media won’t be shown on a client until there’s a cached version on your own server. Could have been related to that.

@hopeward are you running the latest version of ivory that was released today? A few users had to restart their device to get things working properly for whatever reason. But needs to be on Ivory v2.5.
