@ivory This is a very nice update!

Though I want to mention a new issue I encountered: I can no longer perform a swipe from the leftmost edge of my screen to exit the post I’m currently viewing _IF_ I’m looking at its replies.

With this update, this now triggers a right swipe all the time (first the short type and then the long type).

@AltCode are you running 26.4?
@ivory nope, I’m on iOS 18.7
@AltCode ok weird. Someone else reported this, but can’t replicated it at all here. Will keep investigating.

@ivory @AltCode I had to disable gestures to be able to swipe to go back. (I don't need them anyway).

But now there's a bug: if I accidentally swipe on a toot from the left on the main timeline (which does nothing as expected), when I tap the toot after it becomes gray and the whole app freezes. I'm on iOS 26.3 (iPhone 15 pro).

@ivory @Altcode I’m also on iOS 18.7 and having the same problem. Swiping to go back instead triggers the defined left-to-right swipe gesture (in my case Translate).

It doesn’t happen on the post I’m viewing the details of, but it happens on all other replies in the thread (earlier replies too).

Edit: and here’s a screen recording of it: (if I hold my finger on the edge of the screen for a moment before swiping - and not long enough to trigger a long press - I can get it to swipe back)

@eurozerozero we will work on fixing this. 🙂 can temporarily disable those specific gestures.
@AltCode Can you try restarting your device and then trying the same thing again? Any special system accessibility options turned on?
@ivory No, I don’t have accessibility options enabled. I’ll try restarting my device and let you know if that helps
@ivory No luck after a restart 😔
@AltCode okay. Do you have a thick case on your phone? Does it work better if you intentionally start the side from the very edge? Still hard to determine why this is happening. A temporary solution is to disable those gestures in the settings. We will continue to collect more data on this from more users.
@ivory thick case here, observing the same behaviour. If I’m careful, I can get the swipe-to-go-back to work from anywhere on the left edge of a post; otherwise, right at the boundary between two posts works with less care. It feels like the target area is a tad too small to start a go-back gesture.

@ivory I have a slim case.

> Does it work better if you intentionally start the slide from the very edge?

That’s actually how I normally I do it, and where I’m struggling most to get it to work.

After a few hours of trying though, I did eventually manage to do it again. I’ve attached a screenshot of where I feel like it works.

I will also add that I’m somehow having more luck getting it to work if I perform the swipe with my left thumb (I normally use my right thumb).

@AltCode Seems like a bit of an edge case (no pun intended), as we've only received a couple reports of this so far, but definitely see this as a potential issue and will be looking into what we can do to improve this (as well as collect a bit more user data). Appreciate the details! 🙂
@ivory @AltCode I was about to report the same issue (also on iOS 18.7); glad to see it’s on your radar! Let me know if I can provide any other info.
@ivory @AltCode I came here to see if anyone already reported this. I'm experiencing the same issue, 26.4 and no case on my iPhone Air.
@[email protected] submitted a TestFlight report about this issue just yesterday too. I am on 26.4 I think. I ended up turning off the left swipe gestures and the issue went away. Now I just have a short- and a long-swipe right (from the right to the left) action.
