Does anyone know anything about cars? (UK)
Mine is too expensive to repair, so I need a replacement.
I have about £2.5k budget, and want something small, reliable, and cheap to run.
Advices?

@ArmouredWizard my dad is a car guy, I'm not crazy about em 😂 not sure what options you have there, if more electric ones are around.. Some South African prick blood emerald heir here who bought Twitter likes to block any kind of other affordable electric cars coming to market in the USA.

That said, I always go Japanese. Honda or Toyota. Or Nissan before CVT transmissions became the norm there. NEVER buy a car with a CVT transmission, just make SURE of that. They're crap, and WILL go out on you. I have a half dead Nissan sitting in my driveway because of one.

@jake4480 I'll probably not go electric this time. I'm not sure of the long-term reliability/costs.
@ArmouredWizard ah yeah.. I know things like Prius can have battery issues. And finding charging stations. Yeah, we always want to eventually (theres even chargers where my wife works) but it hasn't happened yet. Kinda waiting on the tech to improve some.. The price is still an issue here too. And I'm never giving Musk a dime.
@jake4480 We seem to have enough charging stations nearby, and I might have the option of home-charging (depending how much it costs to set up).
But I'm still wary of them.

@ArmouredWizard
1: Diesel. You're looking for a high mileage car on that budget, and diesels will stay more reliable for longer.

2: Smallish engine, 1.4 or 1.6. Cheaper to run, plus it's unlikely to have been owned by someone who liked to thrash it about.

3: Independent local dealer, if they offer a warranty.

4: Get underneath and look for corrosion. Get the cleanest one you can find, particularly suspension.

Diesel prices are rising rapidly :(
@ArmouredWizard So is petrol, here. Much better mileage on diesel compared to petrol though. By all means, go with electric if you can find one in the price range, wish I could. Currently looking at a big scooter for my daily commute/shopping, which is about 25 miles round trip. But that's with my partner's car as an alternative.
