🎉 The critical amendment 34 (rejecting automated assessment of unknown photos and texts) PASSED by ONE vote, paving the way for the extension of Chat Control 1.0 to be overwhelmingly REJECTED!

Initial analysis by @echo_pbreyer : https://www.patrick-breyer.de/en/end-of-chat-control-eu-parliament-stops-mass-surveillance-in-voting-thriller-paving-the-way-for-genuine-child-protection/

@chatcontrol Hm why would the center left vote for the commission proposition and then for the article rejecting the automatic control ? Am I missing something ?
@dawn The amendment needed to be *adopted* while the Commission proposal needed to be *rejected*. The EPP hinged on amendment 34 not passing.
@chatcontrol too close for comfort. We need to remember to vote out the representatives who support Chat Control next election.
@chatcontrol @echo_pbreyer For anyone interested here is how everyone voted on this one: https://howtheyvote.eu/votes/189574

Who are the people continuing the negotiations on a permanent Chat Control regulation?

Investigate whether there are ties to foreign powers or extremist groups that seek to control citizens.

If I'm not mistaken, there was an American organisation (or person) pushing for Chat Control 2.0

@chatcontrol @echo_pbreyer Let's go! Now it's Chat Control 2.0's turn!
Good job everyone!
@chatcontrol @echo_pbreyer They will just keep on trying this bullshit until it will finally pass in some mildly changed form (usually just the name of it). Every fucking time...
@chatcontrol do we know the parties that voted in favor of the chat control proposals? would be interesting to name and shame so we know what parties to avoid when you don't want a surveillance state
@anthropy @chatcontrol You need also to identify the people who are starting these proposals en investigate their money stream.
@anthropy @chatcontrol In addition, there should be a ban on repeatedly submitting the same proposals under a different guise. It is undemocratic that citizens’ freedoms are repeatedly under attack in the European Parliament under the pretext of some nonsense.
@anthropy @chatcontrol If this does not stop the EU is killing itself.

Looking at the countries https://howtheyvote.eu/votes/189270 Hungary number 1 in voting Yes. France, Poland, Malta, Ireland very much Yes closely followed by Belgium. If the EU can find ways to ignore Hungary on other topics, then are there ways to do something similar here next time ? 🤔

@chatcontrol the combination of rejected, passed, one vote and rejected in one sentence makes my head spin. 😅
It's almost as bad as listening to Alvina the cat in Dark Souls (sorry, had to pull the reference).
So if I understand correctly, the end result is that Chat Control 1.0 will not be extended again?
@chatcontrol nevermind, I confirmed it elsewhere. 😁

@chatcontrol @echo_pbreyer

So chat control 1.0 is rejected and we won just by ONE vote? is that how i think it is?
