These people have a funny way of saying "Environmentalists have been proved right yet again."

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

Damn those dastardly environmentalists luring Putin to attack Ukraine and then Trump to attack Iran just to put the squeeze on honest fossil fuel brokers.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

"Fires are exactly what the fire department wants"

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social Did these 'journalists' cheer on the bad guys in Scooby Doo when they were kids? In any case nobody who is sane wanted yet another war in the Middle East.

@steevc @georgemonbiot.bsky.social

Except for imperialist zionist Israel with their dream of a purely Jewish country and they feel the current boundaries can't hold all the Jews they want to invite.

Extremist religion at its worst, over and over and over again. There are always some and every now and then they get too much power and cause death and misery.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social
Yeah, I don't want those who are too silly not to wear sunscreen to get sunburn, or those who don't wear a seat belt to die, or smokers to get cancer.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

The Telegraph is a deeply unserious newspaper.

@aadeacon @ReggieHere @georgemonbiot.bsky.social

I disagree. The journalism (not opinion pieces) is often very well informed and a higher standard than, say, the Grauniad.

Enough to marvel at the sub-editors ability to pick a sentence they can construe as being inline with Charles Moore's worldview. And if they can't find one they simply make one up. Often completely destroyed if you read the article.

I'm a Grauniad subscriber but refuse to put money into Telegrope's pockets.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social yes. And he's totally wrong. No one sane (therefore excluding Drumpf, Netanyahooo, Pootin etc...) wants an energy crisis.
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social I Always knew that the rain was sent by my mother who wanted me to take the umbrella
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social "Luckily we successfully opposed their insidious agenda of making us independent from oil"
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social Some people have suggested that Netanyahu put Trump up to the war, but we know it was really Big Wind.
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social You can’t trust the EGC(Evil Green Conspiracy)!
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social
Wait. Is this another militarized group I joined without knowing?
It's a good thing their monthly dues are so low.
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social I appoint myself the e0 brigadier.
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social If there are any aliens reading this, can you please abduct me. I'll even submit to probing. Don't even have to take me home. Just drop me off on any planet with actual intelligent life.
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social environmentalist mutated cordyceps to manipulate presidents into energy crisis wars. Clever hah?

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social if there was going to be one silver lining from all this awfulness, yes, I want this one.

Energy is not at all scarce, just *that* kind is.

@sarajw @georgemonbiot.bsky.social I am very concerned about the talk of bombing oil fields or setting them on fire. The burning of the Kuwaiti oilfields in the first Gulf War caused 100-400 megatonnes of CO2 eq emissions -- the equivalent of the annual GHG emissions of a medium-sized country. We need to keep that oil in the ground, not burn it into the atmosphere.

@evan Agreed, that's definitely not a good outcome

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social Oh no, we are going to be forced to install solar panels, get electricity for free, and reduce air pollution. The humanity.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

If only the United States had freakin' listend to Jimmy Carter, how much bloodshed and capital might have been avoided?

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social The war with Troy is exactly what Cassandra wants

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

THE OIL CRISIS,

Started by a big oil supported pedophile moron and his criminal gang for self enrichment and perverse pleasure.

Thanks to maga + Israeli Ghouls and the ministers of death who encourage selling weapons to or fully support Genocide.

Wish I could afford an electric car.

My household electricity is provided to about 80% by solar and battery storage.
Panels on a shabby lawn.

@Kerplunk @georgemonbiot.bsky.social

Uhm! Small short range electric cars are dirt cheap and cover 90% of mobility requirements.

No, you don't need to explain why you think this not an option for you.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social I heard a YouTuber call fossil fuels "disposable energy" and I haven't been able to un-hear it.
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social The green agenda is now the power utility agenda. It's just plain cheaper and more predictable to build out wind and solar power generation. The environmental argument is now secondary to the economic argument for green power.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

Energy scarcity is the reality, or did they miss that part? Yeah they missed that part.

The cheapest energy is the shit we never (dig up and) burn.

The chief absurdity of the modern economy is its express preference to find the most energy intensive, which is to say the longest supply chain possible and offer choices based on that.

Local is a practical constraint that brings communities within planetary boundaries. Human invention should focus on it.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social He says it like that's a bad thing.
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social I've always wondered if Trump is a closet environmentalist. Like does he hide his recycling next to his child porn collection or something? Because everything he's done, and everything he is doing works bigly for the green camp. Europe and China are putting pedal to the electric metal to go electric and get off the freedom crack. We are damned near the sole buyers of it now. And yet Musk wouldn't have sold a single Cyber Dick Mobile without Trump.
