GitHub is getting very close to zero 9s of uptime
@kate microsoft's vibe coding strategies paying dividends i see
@kate would 89.99% still count as three nines uptime
-F
@kate this is an actual question and everyone seems to be reacting to it like it's a joke
-F
@Hearth @kate no, because it’s only counting leading ones

@Hearth Technically, surely 0.0999% would count as three nines uptime.

@kate

The benefits of vibe coding on display.

@kate This is hilariously snide coming from an IBM background where 5 nines is standard, unbelievably expensive, and not enough for businesses like credit card companies that could lose a million dollars a second for each second of downtime.

@kate I sometimes run user agent analysis on the similar type of logs that GH would have, and I've never seen a UA string that would indicate one of the known #GenAI tools there. Still, the uptime problems seem to be getting worse, while those tools are advertised.

Sooo, maybe those tools are overloading infra right and left, but hide behind generic UA strings?

@kate to quote something seen on the dutch hackercamp last year:

YOLOcation - cause 9.9999% are five 9s, too

@kate p sure it briefly hit that at one point a few weeks ago
