(also "Git-kompatibel" sind, wenn man so will).

@thomas Would you by any chance have any suggestion for someone who pretty much only uses GitHub for secret gists?

I'm just a scientist who writes code, not a computer person at all. And yeah, I'm a Linux user, but Linux has been accessible for everyone for a long time. Git, repositories and all that stuff are something I've never been able to understand and I've had a GitHub account for 15 years. But the gists are like posting here - a text area to write in and a button to press, nothing more.

I've looked at framagit, but can't find info in the docs about their Snippets feature, which I would think is similar to gists... still unsure about it.

@kreatorfangirls hi! I'm aware of https://paste.tchncs.de/ but that is more for "save and forget" notes. I guess it won't provide you with a list of past notes :S

Gitlab should allow private repos and is somewhat similar to github.

@mndflayr @thomas The thing is I cannot understand the first thing about repos, so repos are not what I'm looking for.

I am looking for a text box and a button. Text box to write in (I may drop screenshots in markdown, so being able to upload images would be a big plus) and button to click save. Then I copy the link and I can share it privately. This is what I do with GitHub gists.

@kreatorfangirls @thomas

Ohh, I totally misunderstood what you meant.
Sorry. I didn't know about gist and thought it was a typing error for git. 🤦 🤦 🤦
