Even when we bridged articles from the web or from Article types in ActivityPub, ATProtocol-based microblogs would only receive a link to the article rather than the content of the long-form post. If your Atmosphere (Bluesky, Blacksky, Eurosky, Northsky, etc.) account is bridged, all of your standard.site publications and documents will bridge over to the Fediverse and the web!

We also make sure your standard.site's reference bsky posts reach Fediverse microblogging platforms as Notes with a link to the blog post to keep the experience the same across ecosystems! Similarly, Fediverse reader platforms like WordPress and Ghost will get the full article.

I've been pushing for all articles, podcasts, videos, songs etc to be #APnative. that the item itself, not just a post linking to it, can be boosted and favorited and replied to. that's our killer app advantage over closed platforms. creators can run their own site for their content, and everything they make becomes inherently social and possibly worldwide viral. they can track all the reactions in one place that they control forever.

but we also need apps that support all this.

The dream of total adoption for the decentralized social web is today's pinnacle that we are all trying to reach.

We all need to be freed from the grip of digital tyranny by breaking away from centralized platforms whose persuasive means are entirely synthetic.

The cause is simple, and the outcome is well known because the internet, at its most fundamental level has always been a broad connection of individual machines, all talking to each other, each one independent.

@anewsocial I have just been playing with the Activitypub plugin, Eleventy and Bridgy and decided to go with a simpler solution for now. I am moving away from WordPress due to their increasingly "content farm" attitude to blogging. I believe that social media should be a social network that is "sticky" thanks to friendships and conversations rather than viral infections. (deliberate imagery).

What about long form Mastodon posts? Like ones that exceed the bsky character limit? Mastodon et al can be configured for any character limit, so it's pretty common that my posts get [Read more on...]'d on their Bsky copy.

@Snapai Since they're Notes, they'll still show up on the Atmosphere under the bsky lexicon and truncate w/ a link like other posts > 300 characters.
