I've never heard of telly programme episodes having ISBNs/EANs. IMDB certainly seems to use its own proprietary numbering rather than anything external. I wonder whether such a thing would help.
I've seen several mixups where the blurb matches a movie/telly programme of the same name but a different year. Name matching seems a terrible way for the entertainment world to be doing things in the 21st century.
