brrr

Push notifications for yourself. iOS and macOS.

brrr

Here's how easy it is to get started with brrr:

1. Download the app.
2. Enable notifications.
3. There's no step three 🤷‍♂️

This is an app I’ve wanted to build for a long time.

Back in December, it finally felt like the right moment. Personal automations are everywhere again and agents are accelerating the shift toward more autonomous software.

brrr fits right into that.

brrr isn’t trying to be better. It’s different.

It strips away the complexity and gives you the bare minimum to send push notifications from anything you build.

That simplicity is the point.

@simonbs Congrats!! Curious what use case you originally had in mind when you built this?
@simonbs step three: pay money 💸

@simonbs Would you like a very minot bug report? I downloaded just on my Mac so far, and it thinks it's an iPad.
@stuart That’s odd. Will look into that. Thanks for reporting it!
@simonbs also, did not realise until searching the App Store for “Brrr” how many “Vibrator: Strong Massage” apps exist. 😳
@simonbs congrats on shipping, Simon 🙌
@simonbs Congrats Simon! Already installed and subscribed 🙂 home assistant integration follows this evening
@maccaffeine Thanksn glad to hear that 🤗
@simonbs The pricing in SEK makes sense. 9sek per month or 129 sek for 12 months. Is this just another case of Danes trying to screw over Swedes? 😉
@jenstollofsen Huh, that’s Apple’s conversion. I suppose I need to specify prices per country then 😒
@simonbs the PostNord(amongst other things) debacle still makes me suspicious! You guys won’t fool us a 389th time! 😉
@simonbs @jenstollofsen Similar in CAD
@hendrik_kueck @jenstollofsen Sorry for this. I've scheduled a price change (I can't do it immediately, unfortunately), so it should be addressed in a day or two.
@simonbs I'm a longtime Pushover user, but this was an insta-buy for the simplicity of the system. Lovely work!
@tylerhall Thanks! Glad to hear that 🤗
@simonbs trying this out today. One thing I’ve noticed is the free trial banner at the bottom is covering something and ostensibly no way to dismiss.
@andyb thanks for the feedback! Looks like I haven’t properly tested with large font sizes. I’ll make sure to look into it.
@simonbs looks very nice and simple. Is there an option to #selfhost the backend?
@yehor Thanks! It's not currently possible. Part of the reason is that in order to achieve the easy onboarding flow and high privacy, this builds partly on CloudKit, which is tied heavily to the app. So even if you could self-host part of the backend infrastructure, you wouldn't be able to replace that part.
@simonbs @bens neat! Curious: what are you using for the backend?
@timonus @bens Cloudflare and CloudKit. I wrote a bit about it here: Publicistklubben
@simonbs Congrats on the official release! 🎉

@simonbs
You might want to look into the pricing for Norway, it does that annoying thing where it by default chooses pricing tiers that make yearly pricing more expensive.

Looking forward to playing around with the app though, was waiting for it ever since you teased it some weeks ago!

@patricksletvold Yeah, that’s an oversight on my part. I’ve changed the pricing. It takes a day or two for it to be rolled out but it should change soon-ish.
@simonbs Nice, thanks! One would imagine Apple could do something useful here too, you're far from the only one who's had to figure this out
