Started learning Affinity Designer last week for graphical abstracts. I'm a second year PhD student and I have no idea what I'm doing in a design tool. But it's fun. @GillesColling I use inkscape, considered the open source version of Adobe Illustrator. There are lots of tutorials and a great community around it.
