Congratulation to the left wing parties of Denmark! 🇩🇰

With 99 percent of the votes counted, the left is in a far stronger position to form a government than the right.

1. They have 84 seats VS 77.
2. They are fewer parties who need to agree (5 VS 6).
3. 58 or their seats belong to just two parties (S and SF).

Now the negotiations begin, and anything is possible. But right now, the results look like a left wing future for Denmark, with a focus on the environment, the climate, and education.

@randahl congrats, Denmark! 🏆

@randahl

who are these 14?

@A_Mimi @randahl Moderaterne, I think. I’m not sure why they’re all separate. They seem about as leftish as the Socialdemokratiet.
@A_Mimi @randahl Okay. I get it. Red bloc on the left, blue bloc on the right, and the Moderaterne(as Wikipedia says) rebuke bloc politics and prefer a coalition government composed of both blocs.
@randahl I hope you’re right. I didn’t have as positive a read on the results. Seeing DF gain so much worries me. What’s your take?
@teotwaki @randahl ... which reminds me: what happened to Nye Borgerlige? They just... vanished?
@floe @randahl It was partially dissolved in 2024, they only had a single municipal seat in the regional elections in 2025. They had less than 10% of signatures required to be eligible for the parliamentary elections.
@randahl 84 vs 77 in a place like Denmark isn't a great sign for rest of us, where ordinary people have it far far worse where governments do the very bare minimum.
@randahl Congratulations!
🎉 🎉 🎉
@randahl Yes, education becomes more important when the right wing gains strength.
@randahl Well done, Denmark! 👌🏻

@randahl

They'll need the support of M to form a left wing government, though. Do you think that's a realistic possibility?

@teemuki The Moderates will certainly try to squeeze themselves into the government, and I think they have a real chance. But there is no straight path for any coalition so I think we are looking at at least 3 weeks of negotiations.
@randahl is that the same left wing that did the whole we're green but we're anti-immigrants? Since that gave DK one of the worst anti-immigration laws. Or is it actually left wing?

@SolarDavy The Social Democrats is a center left party which now combines left leaning politics with right leaning immigration politics.

The other parties on the left are much more moderate and will most likely temper the Social Democrats somewhat during the negotiations.

@randahl I had been a little anxious when I saw they were voting, but am pleased there is at least one rational country to look towards to. 🤗 😁

@randahl do you think some of the racist immigration policies and attitude of the government will stop?

I'd really like them to stop inspiring UK Labour

@otfrom yes, there is a real chance for more moderate immigration policies if a center left coalition government is formed. All the left leaning parties except The Social Democrats have criticized the current discriminaion.
@randahl Well... I wouldn't say "a left wing future" is assured. It's a hung parliament, neither side can get 90 seats (majority). Present day government is Social Democrats, Moderaterne, Venstre. Even if the four seats from Faoroe Islands and Greenland would be included in, e.g., "the left wing block" it wouldn't be enough. Could be a minority government again? Danish and Swedish media says it will be difficult to form a government. We'll see...
@randahl förklara åt mig varför Venstre är höger?
