OpenAI isn't getting the money they want from investors, is killing the Sora video generating app, and is set to almost double their human workforce, is billions in the red again this year, while banks and other large companies are scaling back on data center investments.

Can we NOW admit that massive data center cloud AI was never going to be a sustainable business model?

@SomeGadgetGuy WE yes. Everyone that has some power to do something about the problem, probably not. 🙃
@SomeGadgetGuy that's why we need to put the data centers IN S-P-A-C-EEEE!!!
@SomeGadgetGuy Man when you get a chance I'd love to get your two cents on the latest report on OnePlus. All of these channels are saying they're dead and I simply have no idea if they're being hyperbolic or exaggerating or not. But if they're out of the US market then that would be tragic. That would mean there's not a single fast charging option left in the US unless you consider Motorola 68 watt. But they don't always sell flagships in US that's like the G stylus 2025. US phone market sucks

You should see what anthropic is doing for the developer community. What they are doing is great and amazing. Check Claude code. You should also see what open Ai is doing in that space mind you they are catching up check their codex. This is where ai real impact is happening. The consumer space for things like sora is Yes silly and heavy in terms of resources. I think that's what openai is moving is leaving that space behind and looking more into the profesional space like antrhopic. Yet codex is up there with Claude code. And Claude desktop is doing great things with managing tasks and performing workflows that interface with your computer. So AI is not about just created me pictures and videos that's consumer space. Where is most powerful and where investment is going to is for things that antrhopic is doing and driving the cost of context now. It allows say a developer or an engineer to come up with better ideas to be more efficient. To get ai do the dirty work and to speed up development. In this past month I've done 3 apps already on ios which to me are useful in my day workflows
@nandihno @SomeGadgetGuy Sorry, this is also slop. To pretend otherwise is disrespectful to skilled developers. Codex gets no more consideration from me than Sora.
@jaredwhite @SomeGadgetGuy how is slop? The code it writes if configure properly is great and helpful. I've been a developer for 25 years and yes initially the code was bad. But Claude code and now codex under their new model provides great code. Not 100% but still is a great tool for a developer to have.
@SomeGadgetGuy
My favorite part is the random farmers and land owners turning away millions upon millions for their land that would be used for data centers. 😁
@justin years and years of promises that courting massive installations with sweetheart zoning, tax breaks, and local investments would enrich a region. Now tons of these communities pushing back against these "opportunities".
