New Pen Day
I was planning to wait until after my birthday, but the stars aligned and I had the chance to pick up my ultimate grail pen that I have been staring at across the internet for many, many months. The top pen is my ultimate grail; a Unicorn Horn themed Eris model from Den's Pens. It's golden, sparkles for days and shaped like a unicorn, what else can I say?
Rhetorical aside it also reminds me of an episode from one of my favourite TV shows (BBC's Merlin) and more recently a weapon from one of my favourite games (Elden Ring's Sacred Relic Sword). I can safely say I have seen no other pen even remotely like the unicorn Eris and consequently convinced me to try independent pen makers.
The pen beneath it is also from Den's Pens, being a Mars model. I purchased it recently as a kind of grail (being a pen that fit every artistic theme I was looking for into a single pen rather than a specific pen model). Both are EF nibs. I just couldn't resist photographing the two of them together as they are both beautiful and personally significant to me in their own ways.
I'll write in detail about their performances in a state of the collection post after I've used them a bit more. For now I can say that the unicorn is inked up with my most loved ink of all time - AftH x Diamine "Failing Upwards", while the Mars is now inked up with Pure Pens x Diamine "Alexandrite".
