Yesterday was #WorldWaterDay. In London, Thames Water has let assets essentially gifted to it fall into catastrophic disrepair. We suffer from low water pressure, sewage in our waterways, and a future of ever-increasing bills to satisfy loans used to pay dividends. Even shareholders recognise it’s the end of the line and have written the company’s value to zero. I’ve written to my MP to ask the government to end this misery and permanently nationalise this vital service and natural monopoly.
