Welcome on board United flight UA3776, with service from LAX to…uh…nowhere. LAX to LAX? The ticket says LAX-SNA. We’re on board a @[email protected] 737-900 as the airline demos its new Starlink Wi-Fi, now rolling out to mainline aircraft.
And we have a guest appearance from @[email protected] via FaceTime! He’s on a train somewhere in LA and I’m 32,000 feet somewhere north of LA. It works fine. Perfectly stable connection.
But don’t do this on a regular flight! It’s illegal!
Conclusion: Starlink works fantastically well in the air right now. It’s no wonder airlines are tripping over themselves to move to it or offer Wi-Fi for the first time.
I absolutely loathe who owns and controls Starlink, but the product is arguably the best thing out there right now. #PaxEx
