I like ZigBee for Home-Automation đŸ™‚

Hardware from many different manufacturers, all compatible with each other.

- Philips
- Ikea
- Sonoff
- Xiaomi

No proprietary bridges, no cloud, no vendor lock-in. Just some free and open source software (Zigbee2MQTT / Home Assistant) and a tiny USB dongle (ConBee II) as a network coordinator.

All meshing nicely and every grid-powered device effectively extends my network's range by relaying datagrams.

@Larvitz "compatible" is a far stretch.

Yes they use the same Mesh protocol but most endpoints are proprietary, only very basic interoperability.

@asltf @Larvitz I suspect what the OP means is that they all exist and work seamlessly on one ZigBee network, within one ecosystem (Home Assistant), without needing any prop hubs.

I have the exact same setup. I was going to replace Conbee 2 recently as I bought the new Home Assistant Connect ZBT2, but while old, the Conbee2 is rock solid for 3 years bow with 50+ devices, so I've set up ZBT2 as Thread border router for Matter devices. Currently dabbling with IKEA's new range!
