I grew up in a #Military Family, attended more schools than years (Canadian Provinces, Northern ( #Soest Westphalia) & Southern ( #Baden Schwartzwald) areas of #Germany.

As a teen, I'd bike or walk to France, school ski trips to Austria, & bus toured Europe.

I've fixed Black Forest Cuckoo Clocks

After returning to #Canada, I worked part time at a Hospital while I make a choice: Return to school the next year, or start working.
I went to the recruiting office in #Halifax, signed up to join the #Navy. Then, called Canadian Armed Forces #CAF Sea Element, later became Royal Canadian Navy #RCN

I would not trade my experiences for another choice, but I grew up without Sports, and I joined the Navy as a young teen, and missed much of the normal life at sea.
I've been on (visitor) HMCS Bonaventure, watched Hydrofoil HMCS Bras D'Or speed out #Halifax harbour, and #retired before I turned 50.

@Rasta Hydrofoil should blow a few American minds .. they cannot get over Hydroplaning boats on rivers ...

@Rasta
Cool to read.

Grew up in #Soest long after the military left the bases.
But the buildings left had a big impact in my childhood. My grandparents had a flat in an complex formerly provided for leading officers, I went to school in one of the former school buildings build by the Canadians and even played sports on ice because there was an indoor ice rink at Möhnesee just because of the military base.

@Katiel WOW! I took a sailing course on the Möhnesee , and my school in Soest, is still a school, and exists to this day, only one of my schools that exist today. We lived on Lorenz-Weg. Near Kanadisher Weg. A store, a CANEX or PX, for military was on the corner and a school not more than a block away.
My school was Hannah-Arendt Gesamtschule
