gack... and it's only March.

i spent one summer working in PHX when there were 21 days in July over 100F/37C, many over 120F/48C. wouldn't even go below 100F/37C until 3am for a few hours. but that was July, not March. insane...

@paul_ipv6 @ai6yr @BakerRL75 that swift jump caught people off guard. We haven’t acclimated. Had folks heat exhausting here because our high jumped 20F in a single day.
@paul_ipv6 @ai6yr @BakerRL75 Came here to comment "it's only March" as well. Here in OKC, we're still doing okay, especially with the cool front that moved in this afternoon. But the high this week was already in the 90s. It's too early for this.
@ai6yr @BakerRL75 Venues need to make misting tents and shaded spaces for people to rest standard.
EDIT: I've been to Renn Faires that became "wet chemise" exhibitions.
@Nazani @ai6yr @BakerRL75 I am all in for a wet chemise Ren Fair! πŸ˜„

@ai6yr @BakerRL75 Wow.

They're really going to need to start cancelling events like airshows when the temperature is over 95Β°F or so; between the sun, lack of shade, asphalt, etc, that's a really dangerous event to have in that kind of heat.

@unlambda @ai6yr @BakerRL75 Heh. I actually passed out once at an airshow in Stockton (teen years) because of the effing heat.

@unlambda @ai6yr @BakerRL75 heat was the rumored contributer to the f86 crash at an air show in Broomfield, CO years ago. It was hotter than forecast and you dont get as much lift, so he started a maneuver too low.

ugh, thanks for the ptsd

Airshow 2024 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱

Highest temperature recorded was 127.4ΒΊ out on the tarmac at 1600hrs on Saturday July 13th 2024 (outside of MedTent1)

Highest in tent temperature recorded was 105ΒΊ at 1600hrs on Saturday July 13th 2024 (MedTent1)

we run 2 med tents (out of the 3 med tents available) at the Airshow. That day we had 24 medical contacts. Thirteen of those heat related.

seems like nothing compared to that Arizona event....

@MsMerope @BakerRL75 LOL, thought you would know exactly the routine here.

@ai6yr @BakerRL75

lol - I hate the Airshow...

@ai6yr @BakerRL75 Lived there for 16 years. There were years when the rainy season was late and Quarter 2 temps were like July and August. Rainy season was late again last year. So this doesn't surprise me one bit. Glad I bailed form there recently.

@ai6yr @BakerRL75

I'm afraid there's more to come...thanks to Grump and his destructo-band of fossil fuel barons.
