dear apple. when i want to choose another card, i will ALWAYS tap the top thing. always. i will never tap the second thing. please fix. thank u love u
@cabel Thank you! Agree wholeheartedly.
@cabel As a naïve non-US citizen, doesn’t it just use your default card?
@edmn @cabel it does. But sometimes you want a different card.
@Cmarriotti @cabel Oh, I completely misread the post! Thank you
@cabel 100%. This keeps hitting me
@cabel This also confused the heck out of me. I kept tapping the top thing

@cabel At least the card isn’t tappable anymore.

Tapping it *changed your address*? What were they high on with that one?

Such an insane design change from 18.

@cabel wait are you still there? I need a borger!
(Also agree).
@cabel it’s an intentional dark pattern
@thomasfuchs haha what is the end game

@cabel so you don’t switch away from the Apple Card, just add a little sand into the UI to make it a tiny bit harder, at scale this this makes a difference

this is the same company who shipped this friendly reminder

@thomasfuchs @cabel even when you don’t have Apple cad as the default it’s not the first choice with a pic of a credit card that lets you have your pick of a credit card
@bonzoesc @cabel if they wanted to make it user-friendly they should always show the idk last three used cards so you can quickly pick the one you want in the dialog ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@thomasfuchs @cabel this is inaccurate, because not everyone has their Apple Card as their default card.
@cabel literally. every. time.
@cabel OMG! I do this wrong every time since they changed it a few years ago.
@chrisipedia @cabel wasn’t it a few months ago (with os 26)?
@spitfire My memory it was before 26 when the change happened since I feel like I’ve been plagued by it for more than a few months. I didn’t run the betas.
@cabel This change has been driving me crazy
@cabel Sorry, I don’t get what you’re running into here. Apple Pay is set to pay with the default card. So, the default card is displayed at the top to let you know which card is about to be charged. If you want to use a different card instead, you tap “Other cards >” right?
@macinthrope I constantly switch between cards all the time per transaction (business/personal), so my brain sees a picture of the wrong credit card, and the name of the wrong credit card, so of course i tap on the wrong card image to choose the right card and “fix” the issue. BUT NOPE!!!
@cabel This was a huge regression in a UI I use often!
@cabel fuck… I thought it was just me
@cabel and you think, i should have remembered this by now, but nope: every week buying bus tickets and here we go... :(

@cabel

They know that.

This is a Dark Pattern designed to trick you.

#DarkPatterns

@cabel Omg every single time.
@cabel this pisses me off EVERY SINGLE TIME.
@cabel THIS! Why, why why even have that second thing at all??? It’s so intuitive to just tap on the current card to change it, and yet…
@cabel i am constantly doing this - i don't get how this hasn't been changed yet! (ironically, on macOS, tapping the option with the picture of the card *does* let you change the card) 🫠
@cabel thank goodness it’s not just me. Burns me every time I want to change cards, which is probably half the time

@yertle @cabel I had too many times when I wanted to pay with a non-default card and it went to my primary card that I deleted the other cards from Apply Pay and will tap the cards to pay when needed.

This is using the Apple Watch for payment, if that matters.

@cabel it took me so-o-o long to retrain my muscle memory on this, and I still don't like it 😬
@cabel when iOS designers don’t understand their own OS design language anymore. This list item should have the chevron, one below needs to go. Redirect list choice to dialog (could be stacked view inside current one)
