@heidilifeldman In truth, it never was a democracy. That's a fiction it likes to tell itself. The electoral college, and allowing private money into politics, both rule it out as being democratic.

@Miro_Collas @heidilifeldman Its 48 states’ completely voluntary and antidemocratic use of “winner-take-all” award of electors that prevents the Electoral College from matching the popular vote, resulting in 60 million+ voters being stripped of their representation in the presidential election every 4 years. If all states used proportional award of electors (kinda like Maine and Nebraska already do), then the EC would match the popular vote. Gore and Hillary woulda won. #detailsmatter
