After 10 years of service, our #Gardena #R40Li lawn mowing robot finally kicked the bucket. 😞

Let's see what replacement we're going to use.

There are still very similar models on the 2nd hand market where I could reuse all sorts of material as well as the PCB board I bought in order to get advanced remote control functionality without any cloud ... 🤔

@publicvoit 10 years is a long time. There has been some development in the market.
I'm sure there are models that can get you the local control that you are looking for, without the need to modify anything.
There are a lot of lists, here is one, very short one:

@publicvoit
what kind of setup did you have with the Gardena?
what kind of remote control?

there are people out there SSHing into their mower and installing Python stuff to get telemetrics... you did not do that, did you?

@flowolf Gardena R40Li with Robonect and its Robonect Android App, no ssh.

I'd rather prefer that over Home Assistant, I guess. Would need to think about HA tough.

Oh, neat: somebody wrote a Robonect HA integration module: https://github.com/geertmeersman/robonect

So re-using my Robonect PCB would be a plus.

Using a (2nd hand) Gardena would also allow me to reuse the supply I do have in stock.

Let's see.
