The Third Wave was a purported spread of democratic values and institutions to "developing nations".[1] In reality it was an update to manufactured legitimacy for authoritarianism through a veneer of carefully designed electorialism.

The fourth wave applies these designs to "First World" countries.

Progress as a concept has been laid bare as the utter bullshit it always was.

[1] this term encompasses a wild mix of economic fault lines and political denominations from Cold War allegiances.

Calling the loss of freedoms and antidemocratization wrought by a predatory delay fossil coalition and the broligarchy the Fourth Wave is such sweet comeuppance, I'm almost sad it is probably too niche to catch on as a popular term.

Just putting this out there, on a sunny sunday for you #polsci nerds

Yeah, I know, we really should pick up blogging again. And I actually have shit to say and insight to spare without an outlet in academic writing, but all I can muster beyond all those spinning plates in semi-professional and professional capacity is the very occasional nugget in a microblog.

Look, I'm trying Jennifer! Just follow back, I guess.

The moral arc of the universe bends only towards complexity.

Every inch and centimetre of justice is fought for inside ever more complex systems. Evolution is not teleological, it has no guiding principle, neither biologically nor culturally. Nothing will bend the arc away from entropy, if not a constant rage against the dying of the light.
