Setting up on another out-of-the-way anti-social-networking site as folks roll off the previous one that is (maybe? hopefully not?) broken for good. Remembering the moment of the “f crowd” back in Ann Arbor, Michigan 100,000 years ago where the same little aggregation of 25 people would sign up for each doomed service as they arrived because that’s what we did. Plazes, Pownce, Plurk, [redacted]. Many more, only some of them beginning with the letter ‘P’.

@chrkrhc I remember this "nova mob" testing out every single service as it came out and briefly, temporarily of course, putting Ann Arbor in the center of the map.

Plurk is still around, timeline still goes sideways. Proof of work attached.

Good lord, the “nova mob”

As soon as I read that, I remembered that’s what we called it. Then I thought that whoever came up with that name was reading a lot of WS Burroughs at the time. Then I realized it was probably me.

That was a fun thing for us all to do for a while.

@chrkrhc @w8emv Literally the previous post I read was about another person checking out Delta Chat.

I have a feeling the pace may pick up again. Probably some reasons are obvious, and others [redacted].
