The thing is, none of the politicians in power have cared about the economy for anyone else but themselves either, including democrats. Trump was just the most naked about it and scratched fewer elite backs.
That's why we're here, the status quo was a system of complete negligence of people's needs and it was unsustainable. Capitalism put us here and it has to end, that's what resistance would actually look like. Not trying to scapegoat individual bad actors.
