Took a risk and it bit me in the ass. I bought a used laptop from the German Zoll Auktion. I've done this before and it worked, but this time I got one with a password protected bios, that they forgot to reset. I was able to install Linux on it but if anyone knows how to fully reset an HP ProBook 650 g1 that would be useful.

Unplugging the CMOS battery didn't help, and my OS is reporting problems with the TPM. Should I just stop trying?

@jrsofty ciao, HP per le versioni professionali utilizza un chip di protezione che non permette di violare la password del BIOS e la stessa HP obbliga a sostituire la scheda madre in caso di password dimenticata, so che esistono aziende o esperti in elettronica capaci di sostituire il solo chip

At least I can work with it, I just prefer to have full access. I guess it's a case of buyer beware. 😆
