Fewer than 1% of fire departments in the U.S. earn a Class 1 ISO rating.

It's the highest possible classification — and earning it means a department has achieved superior response capabilities, rigorous training standards, and strong infrastructure across the board.

That kind of excellence doesn't happen by accident. It's the result of eliminating every gap between a call coming in and help arriving.

For most agencies, one gap remains stubbornly open: language.

When a non-English speaking caller reaches a 911 center, the technology, the training, and the staffing all become secondary to a single question: can we understand each other right now?

The agencies closing that gap aren't waiting for a mandate. They're treating language access the same way the best departments treat response times — as a standard, not an exception.
