Drawing eyes on #food packaging could stop #seagulls stealing your #chips

We tested the idea in coastal towns where gulls take food from people eating outside

We stuck pairs of #eyes onto food #takeaway boxes & gave individual gulls a choice of 2 boxes placed 2m apart: 1 box with eyes, 1 plain

Gulls appeared put off by eyes. They were slower to approach & less likely to peck at these boxes
