The Kona Low rain this week caused campus closures around noon. The island has had flooding in some areas. We had some leaking on the 2nd floor of the library. This was taken in a staff area. #HiWeather #preservation Our custodian set this up to catch all the leaks in a tarp and empty into a trash can. I helped with another set-up (not pictured). #libraryLife

Smart thinking. Hopefully the books will stay dry.

@biped808 wow - serious.
Also quite resourceful in its construction. I assume that the line that starts with a binder clip in the big tart center is there do let leaking water slide down directly into the can and not fall every which way? Genius.

Also, the X in painters tape looks to be about 18 inches from the center of the collecting can - was that the original intended place for the can?

@jswright61 I think the x just marked a spot where it had leaked in the past so folks could put something under it next time. We get leaks almost any time there is sustained rain. You’re right about the string being a guide. I learned this in preservation class for library school, but this one our custodian set up is pretty awesome!
@biped808
Wow, drastic. 😲
@biped808 highly resourceful custodian staff, bravo 👏 👏 👏
