World Forestry Day / International Day of Forests – 21 March
Observed on 21 March to highlight the role of forests in sustaining life. Established by the UNGA in 2012.
Forests support 80% of terrestrial biodiversity, act as carbon sinks, and sustain 1.6 billion people. Yet, over 13 million hectares are lost every year.
