#TIL that @UNVofficial uses #Darling to build their #macOS builds. Very interesting!

I've heard of it before, and I wonder if I can get #Tenacity to build under Darling. If all works, then that means I can at least diagnose build issues. I'm not sure if Tenacity will actually run, but we can always give it a shot! 😄

@gperson Yes we do! It's very cool indeed 😎️

Though it's very experimental, also the lack of darling releases for a lot of years, and for the very long time the latest ones having serious bugs making them unusable, our build system is painfully designed around the limitations of those old builds. But at least, once everything is figured out and scripted, things work reliably! 🙂️

I've heard that #Darling released a new version last month, we will likely evaluate it. 😉️

Next version of Unvanquished which should come in some days will still be built using the old Darling because of all the possible pain from working around limitations we don't know yet. 😄️

But yes, it starts being usable for the one not afraid and with enough endurance and problem-solving skill, and it should become easier and easier in the future. Go Darling Go! 🚀️
@gperson Also one thing to know is that for now we only build amd64 builds using Darling. With Rosetta 2 working great, we're not yet producing arm64 macOS builds so we haven't investigated that in Darling. Also one shouldn't be surprised if the old Darling build we still use is probably not good enough for that (we don't know). Time will tell! 🙂️
