Out $280,000, the Inglewood community league says it has reported missing money to the police. Now, it’s suing its former treasurer.

@Daveography fut the wuck
that is insane

@Daveography the bit about leagues under strain citing King Edward Park is totally bunk.

Yes, we had bad leadership that did basically nothing. Once the word got out that it was at risk we had over 100 folks attend the meeting to setup a new board. I would say KEPCL is stronger than ever.

So, this sort of thing happens with volunteer stuff, I don’t think these two league issues are related nor does it point to anything systemic.

@linux_mclinuxface @Daveography I'm so glad to hear this! We were worried. KEP was our old neighbourhood before we moved away from Edmonton.
@Daveography wait wait what, this is *that* Chad?
@megmac @Daveography oh. oh no. 😳😬

@robyn @megmac @Daveography I see it being suggested to leave that instance. I know these are just allegations but I’d also be wondering about his fundraising for the server cost. Not being on the server I don’t know if there’s been a full, honest accounting of its finances.

Speaking of which, Dave, did I miss the requests to chip in and am the only deadbeat on yeg.bike?

@geodarcy @robyn @megmac @Daveography I donate to mstdn.ca, but I'll be reviewing that donation after their state of the instance given these happenings. I will happily chip in to yeg.bike if Dave ever wants/lets me.

@Kellyshenanigans Was there ever an actual non-profit or whatever set up for the ownership structure of mstdn.ca? Because if it's all directly under Chad's name and he's found liable for all this, all assets could be facing a forced sale to pay back the funds. Which would include any of the servers he has in his home.

@geodarcy @robyn @megmac @Daveography

@ksawatsky they started the process, but never got it up and running, so I think everything would be under his name, and I believe the servers are physically in his house.

I always appreciate the standing offer. πŸ˜„ Still doing good for now, but will let folks know if there's a need or opportunity for upgrades.

That said, if anyone is having any issues or frustrations with yeg.bike that some upgrades might alleviate, drop me a DM and I'll give it some thought.

@Daveography @Kellyshenanigans @geodarcy @robyn
Hello all, looks like I might need to take my bike helmet elsewhere, so I’m happy that there’s another local option.
@geodarcy @robyn @megmac @Daveography their state of the instance is cancelled, and now so is my donation.

@geodarcy @robyn

Lol, no, yeg.bike shares a server and internet connection that I already have, my costs are negligible.

That may change if more users join and I need to start scaling up or something, but we're good for the foreseeable future.

@Daveography if i end up pointing some friends of mine toward you rather than mstdn.ca, do you have a ko-fi or anything i can pitch a few toonies to as thanks? upkeeping my matrix homeserver has reminded me to give many thanks to my own fediverse instance admins lol

@unnamedau

I don't right now, no. I appreciate the thought, but as I said, my costs are extremely low right now.

This thread is giving me some thought about whether I should be more open to accepting some tips to at least bank for future upgrades.

Gonna thunk about that now.

@Daveography wow. This has big implications for all of Canada given who is accused.
@Daveography I'm hoping that Chad will be exonerated of this because he's provided a valuable home for Canadian Mastodon users.
