Not trying to make it heavy in here but for #footpathfriday I wanted to share this stretch of path from one of the “Trail of Tears”. According to the signs, this is one of the best preserved stretches of the Trail of Tears and it was a sobering and reflective experience to think about all of those Natives who were forcibly removed from their homes and land. It bothers me Everytime I think about it.

@FlashF1R3 Thanks so much for sharing this. And it absolutely should bother us. For settler colonies like the US and others, “nation-building” has often meant the ethnic cleansing of the people who were already there. I hope more and more people make the connection to other events in history as well as to what’s happening today in places like Gaza.

Also these are really good, well-composed shots. The curve of the tree shadows is striking.

Okay it won’t let me :(

@FlashF1R3 You aren’t able to post a photo with Trail of Tears info? That’s weird.🧐

This is clearly a white supremacist administration trying to rewrite history so that straight, white, male, Christian America never did anything wrong. They took down the Pride flag from Stonewall (from STONEWALL! What else is that site supposed to commemorate?!) but local officials here put it back up.

We have to document and remember everything. History is up to us.

I was trying to post it in the comments but it wouldn’t let me. I think it’s just a glitch on the Pixelfed’s website. And yeah it’s getting so ridiculous. Did you hear about the Pearl Harbor “joke”? I was speechless…
