For those who don't know: It's entirely possible, and comfortable, to rock old-school with Debian and sysvinit. It's a little bit annoying to set up, but not too bad.
Fuck systemd.

Quite. My VM setup scripts have an option for which init system to use; after quite a lot of years I still haven't got round to implementing the systemd option — to be honest I don't plan to. And I still get a stinking feeling when I have to explain to a client that they can just say "apt-get install systemd-sysv" and then reboot if they really need to change it.
Also for those who don't know, the package orphan-sysvinit-scripts is a good one to know about.
