🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🚢🇫🇷🇪🇺 proposed direct ferry service between #Scotland and #Dunkirk has moved closer after a £3 million #UK Government funding commitment to upgrade Border Force and customs facilities at Rosyth. The investment, from the Growth Mission Fund, is conditional on a commercial agreement between Forth Ports and a ferry operator, alongside approval of a business case. The route, which would carry freight and passengers, could reconnect Scotland with mainland Europe for the first time in 15 years. Supporters say it would boost trade, tourism and jobs, while reducing road #freight. The link would also connect to Dunkirk’s rail network, improving access to #EU markets, which account for around 45% of #Scottish exports.
